"Make children's books a part of your life, because the reality is; we're never too old to delight in the magic of make-believe."~d.c.h
My love of writing and the joy that my own children and childhood gave me inspired me to follow my heart & chase my dream of becoming a published children's author. My first picture book (below) was written in 1998 when my boys were still small and during my time as a student with the Australian College of Journalism. After successfully completing my 12th & final assignment, I was awarded with my "Diploma of Professional Children's Writing." My journey had just begun. However, over several years and many, many submissions later I was unsuccessful at being accepted by an Australian publisher. It was then that I decided to tuck my children's writing away to allow my poetic side to grow.
It wasn't until March of 2011 that I made the decision to start re-submitting my children's books. I received a further 4 rejections before choosing a publisher (abroad) who turned my life around! At last, that one word I'd been longing to hear did come my way-"accepted." :) In the month of June 2011 my dream of becoming a published children's author (finally) came true!

Billy is no ordinary dinosaur. He loves to spend most of his time indoors, baking and eating cakes. Billy's dinosaur friends, however, prefer playing outside in the fresh air while enjoying the foods more suitable for dinosaurs. They don't like eating cake at all. So when Billy bakes the biggest cake ever, he's left to eat it all by himself. What happens next will teach Billy the importance of eating the right foods and making more time for outdoor activities. He soon learns that there's more to life than just baking and eating cakes.
